Barrels & Kegs: A Rockaway Beach Beer Event
Beach season isn’t quite over yet, so make the rest of it count with this boardwalk beer crawl, presented by Beer Sessions Radio and Edible Queens. Over 15 local and craft breweries, including KelsoGreenport Harbor, and brand new Rockaway Brewing, will set up pouring stations along the boardwalk’s concessions stands. The ticket price includes 20 four-ounce samples, which will pair well with Rockaway Beach Club‘s many edible offerings, such as lobster and crab rolls from The Lobster Joint, arepas from Caracas, or ice cream sandwiches from Steve’s (food is purchased separately, so the possibilities are endless, really). Check out the full brewery lineup, and grab a ticket.

Saturday, September 8 from noon to 5pm at Rockaway Boardwalk at Beach 86th, 96th and 106th Sts (Queens). $28.

Meatopia
It’s not too late to snag a ticket to the meatiest event of the year, which lands on Randall’s Island tomorrow. Chefs from all over the country will converge in a “city of meat” to showcase the best in beef, pork, lamb, duck and many more offerings (all natural and humanely raised) in dishes like grilled veal brisket with garlic scapes from Mile End‘s Noah Bernamoff, and spit duck with preserved citrus from Fatty Crew‘s Zak Pelaccio. New this year is a Best Butcher contest, where three finalists will showcase their mastery in carving. Get a ticket here—they’re only available for one more day.

Saturday, September 8 from 5pm to 9pm on Randall’s Island, Great Lawn. $140.

Smorgasburg DUMBO Opens
Market food fiends gain a new option for noshing this weekend, when Smorgasburg launches its new outpost under the Brooklyn Bridge. Expect to see many of your favorites from the Williamsburg market, as well as new faces (and eats), every Sunday through November 18. Read more on the Flea’s website.

Sunday, September 9 from 11am to 6pm at the Tobacco Warehouse, 30 Water St at Old Dock St (DUMBO)

Taste Williamsburg / Greenpoint
The two northerly neighborhoods’ annual foodfest returns, bringing together over 30 of the best restaurants, wine bars, bakeries and more. Among this year’s vendors you’ll find oyster-and-cocktail specialists Maison Premiere, oven-fresh goodies from Bakeri, single-origin coffee from Toby’s Estate, and breakfast-taco slingers Whirlybird. Pricing starts at six tastes and four drink samples; there are also “Dinner for Two” and all-you-can-eat options. See all the participants and get tickets here.

Sunday, September 9 from 1 to 5pm at 5 N 11th St at Kent Ave (Williamsburg). Tickets start at $35.

The Farm on Adderley’s Pig Roast
Toast to the last days of summer at The Farm on Adderley‘s alfresco feast in the backyard of their neighbor Sycamore. Stop by the night before to watch Chef Tom Kearney start the roast—with a 150-pound hog from Sullivan County Farms—then come back after the 14-hour process is done to snag a plate of the slow-cooked results, plus sides, for $25. Top everything off with $5 pints from California’s Lagunitas Brewing. Spots (and pork) are limited, so grab a ticket now.

Saturday, September 15 from 2 to 8pm at Sycamore, 1118 Cortelyou Rd between Stratford and Westminster Rds (Ditmas Park). $25.

NYC Honey Festival
Brooklyn Grange and the Rockaway Beach Club team up once again for the second annual celebration of the sweet rewards of local beekeeping. Catch workshops with Brooklyn Homesteader and Borough Bees and cooking demos with Growing Chefs and the Brooklyn Kitchen, while sampling honey from NYC apiaries, honey beer from Sixpoint, and plenty of sticky-sweet snacks. Attendees can also enter a raffle to win gift certificates from spots including Stinky Bklyn, Vinegar Hill House, and Van Leeuwen. Read more at the official website.

Saturday, September 15 from 10am to sundown at Rockaway Beach Club, Boardwalk at Beach 96th St (Queens)

The 8th Annual Vendy Awards
Celebrate the best in mobile eats at the 2012 Vendys. Finalists who have been chosen for street-food excellence—including the Red Hook Ballfields’ Piaztlan Authentic Mexican Food—will compete for the Vendy Cup as well as other categories like Dessert Vendor and the all-new Market Vendor category. Attendees will get to sample all the goods, along with free-flowing Brooklyn Brewery beer, then cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award. Tickets sell out every year, so get one before they’re gone.

Saturday, September 15 from 12:30 to 5pm on Governors Island. Ticket start at $95, $60 for kids.

Kings County Corn Bowl
If you’re weary of summer’s meatcentric food fests, this market-driven cookoff at t.b.d. is the antidote. Twelve competitors, including Cathy Erway and the folks behind First Prize Pies, will duke it out with recipes highlighting fresh, in-season corn, for a panel of judges that includes Momofuku Milk Bar‘s Christina Tosi and Post Office‘s Samuel Glinn. After you’ve sampled all the chefs’ entries, fill up with a chicken & waffle cone from The Brooklyn Star. Read more about the event and find tickets here.

Sunday, September 16 from 2 to 5pm at t.b.d., 224 Franklin St at Green St (Greenpoint). $15.

Beach Party and Seafood Dinner
The good folks of Roberta’s and their beachside pals Rippers invite you to a seafood feast with local, sustainable fishmonger Gabe the Fish Babe. Meet in Bushwick at Roberta’s, then hop on the Rockabus and head for the shore to enjoy a menu that showcases all manner of marine delights: a raw bar and a seafood boil that might include oysters, lobster, clams and crab (the exact menu is TBA), plus sides of corn and potatoes and plenty of beer and wine. Reserve a spot by grabbing a ticket in advance.

Tuesday, September 18 from 6:30 to 9:30pm, meet at Roberta’s, 261 Moore St at Bogart St (Bushwick). $75.

Meet Your Maker
Not to be confused with 61 Local‘s recurring series of the same name, this educational evening from Edible and the Brooklyn Brewery gives you a peek behind the curtain of three local businesses. Choose from baked-goods artisans Ovenly, chocolatiers Mast Brothers, or beer experts Brooklyn Brewery, then take a tour of your chosen facility, complete with tastings of the goods and an afterparty at the brewery. Snag a ticket here.

Wednesday, September 19 at the Brooklyn Brewery, 71 N 11th St between Berry St and Wythe Ave (Williamsburg). $20.
